Tired of sitting in traffic everyday trying to get to work in
the morning and then home each evening? It should come as no
surprise to many that Washington, DC motorists endure one of
the longest commutes in the United States. But there is an
alternative. Under the Public Private Transportation Act, the
Clark/Shirley team has developed a detailed plan for the
Virginia Department of Transportation that will reduce congestion
between Spotsylvania County and Washington, DC. The plan is
called 95 Express.
95 Express is a multi-modal solution that brings much needed
improvements to the I-95/395 corridor at no cost to the
Commonwealth, the localities, or the Federal Government.
This project will improve commuting for the general purpose
lane commuter as well as HOV users by managing traffic patterns
and improving enforcement. This plan also provides a major
investment for existing rail and bus providers, thus offering
a comprehensive multi-modal solution for this busy transportation
corridor.
